Frequently Asked Questions
Are Senior Bats allowed (1.21 BPF)? Unfortunately, no. There is a safety issue by using the senior bat in regular league play (we have young and OLDER ladies that can hit the ball extremely hard) and since it is currently a mixed age team, it is for safety purposes. Can individual players join the league?
Yes. It is like a free agent list - each player will be assigned to a team.
Can teams join the league?
Yes. All players must be 45 years of age by December 31 of the current year.
What does the league cost?
Each year's league cost will depend on the numbers of players who join, but it is roughly $80+/- per person. Umpire costs have risen and our dues will be impacted by these rate increases. Please do not be surprised if the costs is much more than the above-stated amount.
Will the league always be on Thursdays?
Yes. Mondays and Wednesdays are reserved by the Coed Senior Softball League (under Colorado Senior Softball Association [CSSA]); Tuesdays are reserved by Colorado Wildfire as their practice day; Fridays and Mondays are travel days for women playing on out-of-state tournament teams.
Why don’t we play nights or weekends?
Most recreation centers run leagues on their own fields and may be unable to host another league in the evening; Recreation Centers generally reserve weekends for tournaments; some women play on travel tournament teams and would be unavailable on weekends.
Why are the fields so far apart?
There are no other leagues for senior women in Colorado, therefore our participants come from all over the Front Range and mountain communities. By offering half of the games in a northern Metro location and half in a southern Metro location, we are keeping travel time equitable for all participants.
